Chicago Journeymen Plumbers will dye the Chicago River a bright emerald green. This year, the phenomenon is best viewed from the East side of the bridge at Columbus Drive or upper and lower Wacker Drive between Columbus and Lake Shore Drive. The official St Patrick's Day Parade starts at noon, at Balbo and Columbus, and proceeds north on Columbus Drive. More info here.

Every second Saturday of the month in the Conservatory's Classroom, the Chicago Area Origami Society presents a free drop-in Origami Open House. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Ups and Towns - ages 3-12
The Chicago Architecture Foundation's Family Studio Sunday offers kids a chance to celebrate Chicago's 172nd birthday by helping to create a kid-sized city. Children must be accompanied by an adult. More info: Chicago Architecture Foundation

You may want to check out the website called Free Things to Do in Chicago at http://chicagofree.info. It is a site that is focused on spreading the word to citizens and visitors on all the free things there are to do in Chicago.
