It's freebie day here at Mummy Deals and this week I've got an AWESOME contest for you that I'm super excited about. One thing you probably don't know about me is that although I can write the other part of my arts brain side is defunked. When it comes to drawing stick figures I stink. In fact when it comes to knowing the difference between a cold and warm colour I'm clueless. I just don't get it. What I do get though is the way I feel when I spot a GREAT piece of art. We're not talking the kind that you can buy for cheap at IKEA but a really great piece of original artwork which is why I love my friend Julie (ok so maybe that's not the only reason! LOL). She's also a stay at home Mom but she's an incredibly artistically talented one. I love supporting Mom businesses which is why I'm gonna host a giveaway on my site and help her launch hers. Will you join me? Here's a little bio on her:"My earliest memory of knowing that I wanted to be an artist was in kindergarten. I painted a picture of an Easter bunny and my teacher thought it was wonderful and hung it up in the hallway. I remember thinking, "Yes. This is what I want to do."
I also loved to write. At the start of each new school year, I would change my handwriting until I found a style that I liked. And I would draw letters. All sorts of styles. I was the designated poster-maker in 4th grade because I could draw letters for headlines and print neatly.
I graduated from Columbia College in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in graphic design and have worked as a graphic designer for over 20 years. In 1998, I found out about a one-year master class in calligraphy with a teacher from Chicago, took the class, and fell in love with letters all over again.
Soon after Sept. 11, 2001, my husband and I found out that I was pregnant. On our 15th wedding anniversary, our first--and only--child was born. After 15 years of working as a graphic designer, I became a stay-at-home mom. During nap times, I began to spend more time in my studio, returning to my love of art and letters. I began to wonder if perhaps I could stay home and try to supplement our household income doing art and calligraphy.
And so I have, off and on. In 2007, my piece, titled Psalm 117, won the Purchase Prize Award at the Newberry Library. My passion is to somehow express, with the talent God has given me, what He has done in and through His creation."
The piece Julie talked about, Psalm 117, is now proudly hanging in our son's nursery as a shower gift from Julie. It's such a unique shower gift that I'm proud to own and it always gets tons of comments. Another great shower gift idea is the Wanna Play print above. Check out her blog site here. This week Julie launched her Etsy site as a way to sell her awesome artwork and I'd love for you to check it out, look around and if you like something, snag it quick! It's very reasonably priced for unique artwork even for a frugal Mummy!
In conjunction with the Etsy site launch, Julie is giving away a $30 gift certificate to her site to one of my lucky readers. So how do you win? Pop on over to her Etsy site here and let me know which print is your fave. Then come back here and leave a comment below. That's it!
**Want more ways to win? Blog about the contest on your site and lemme know.
** Want yet one more way? Subscribe to my email feeds or follow me. Any new readers between now and 3/15/09 will be entered.
Contest closes on Sunday March 15th at midnight and the winner will be picked randomly (by random.org) and announced on Monday March 16th. Don't forget to leave a way for me to contact you!

You are an AWESOME ARTIST 1st let me say!..wow..great stuff!! I would definately LOVE to have the "WANNA PLAY" one. I LOVE IT! I have 3 kids & it would look great in the playroom or maybe my 2yr olds room! Thanks for the chance & I will be visiting your site often!
I have really loved Julie's work for a very long time. I deeply feel the talent she has is a gift that God is able to bring joy to those who have the treasure of knowing Julie and her beautiful work. I love everything I have seen of hers and can appreciate all the hard work and love that goes into each piece of art. I am in love with "Psalms 117" but I have a strong drawing toward "Creation"
The Creation brings out the childlikeness of how everything around us is all that God is, he is simple but at the same time he is in all things and so vast-there is no limit to who God is and how great is his glory.
The "Creation" print is beautiful!
