Halo Sleep Sack Giveaway and S.I.D.S. Awareness Month

When little monkey was a littler monkey I remember being concerned about the way he slept as a new Mum. I'd heard the horror stories about kids not being able to breath and to that end would often go into his room before I went to bed to check on him..........only to wake him up! He's a little older now but it's still a concern of mine and this month is S.I.D.S. Awareness month. Words can not explain loss like that and therefore I can't even try and empathize. But I do know that awareness is key.

What many people don't know is that there is another silent killer among the helpless--Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). SIDS is the leading cause of death in children ages 1 month to 1 year. The cause of SIDS is unknown and the death of a child through SIDS is unpredictable and can occur in even the most seemingly healthy infant. There are many theories for the cause of SIDS, but as of now, even though research has been strenuous, researchers have yet to find a reason for Suddent Infant Death Syndrome.

SIDS claims the lives of over 2,500 babies annually in the United States alone, and despite years of research and people working their lives to stop SIDS, SIDS still remains unpredictable and largely confusing to researchers around the world.

HALO SleepSacks is a company working towards preventing SIDS and they've created sleep sacks for kids. There's ones for babies with no feet which we bought for Isaac when he was little but they also have big kids ones! They sent us one to try and Isaac is loving it. As it's got colder here it's nice to just put his PJS on and then add the SleepSack, no worry about blankets staying on or covering him. Nice and safe. While I was researching this more I found that HALO SleepSacks has some sleep tips here which are nifty for all you new parents.
