Cheerios 100,000 Book Giveaway: Win $25 GC to Barnes & Noble

>> Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Welcome to Mummy Deals!
If you're looking for ways to save money on your grocery bill, you've come to the right place. Consider subscribing to a daily (spam-free) email update or my RSS feed. Did you enter all the Giveaways yet?

Access to books is essential to reading development. However, did you know that over 80 percent of childcare centers serving low-income children lack age-appropriate books? And a recent study shows that the ratio of books per child in middle income neighborhoods is 13 to 1, while in low-income neighborhoods, the ratio is 1 age-appropriate book for every 300 children. Folks, this is a really sad statistic. Really sad. In fact if anyone knows a great way for our Mummy Deals community to help out, I'd love to hear it.

The Cheerios family of cereals, First Book and Jon Scieszka, author of the popular “Trucktown” series and other children’s books, have joined together to deliver 100,000 books to community-based programs serving children in need – and we’d love your help! All you have to do is go online with your child and test your combined knowledge of children’s books by answering trivia questions related to “Trucktown” and other great children’s books.

For every trivia question answered correctly, you can cast one vote for the state you would like to receive books. The five states receiving the most votes will get 20,000 books each, for a total of 100,000 books. Visit www.FirstBook.org/Scieszka to test your knowledge and start voting.

Cheerios provided me with the free 100,000 Book Giveaway Pack which included product, information, and gift pack through MyBlogSpark and is giving one away to one of my readers. You'll win: Books, a box of Cheerios and a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble.

So how do you win? Tell me what you'd get from Barnes & Noble by going here then coming back and leaving a comment. Don't know how to leave a comment? See this.

**Want more ways to win? These are worth one additional entry total. (1 entry)
Blog about the contest on your site OR tweet OR Facebook about it and lemme know.
Tweet this: Win a $25 Gift Card to Barnes & Noble at www.mummydeals.org from @mummydeals and Cheerios.
** Want yet one more way? Subscribe to my email feeds OR follow me. If you're already a subscriber and you tell me, you get an extra entry. If you're not, subscribe and then lemme know to get an extra entry! (1 entry)

Contest closes on Monday December 15 at midnight and the winner will be picked randomly (by random.org) and announced on Tues December 16. Don't forget to leave a way for me to contact you!

I blog with integrity: I wasn't paid for this review but I was given the 100,000 Book Giveaway Pack to try out and am giving one away to one of my readers.

I would get the Elf on the Shelf book set. I've been eyeballing this book but I think I'll wait until next Christmas when my son is a tiny bit older.

Here's the synopsis:
The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition™ is an activity the entire family will enjoy. Based on the tradition Carol Aebersold began with her family in the 1970s, this cleverly rhymed children's book explains that Santa knows who is naughty and/or nice because he sends a scout elf to every home. During the holiday season, the elf watches children by day and reports to Santa each night. When children awake, the elf has returned from the North Pole and can be found hiding in a different location. This activity allows The Elf on the Shelf to become a delightful hide-and-seek game.

Each Tradition-in-a-Box™ comes with its very own scout elf, a hardbound children's book and a keepsake box for easy storage. In addition, each shipment is marked for "Special Delivery" from Santa's workshop.

As a mom to a two year old, Id have to get her a book of her choice! She loves to follow the words on a page, point to pictures...as a mom yourself, you know how important it is to introduce children to books! (and if there were any funds left, I might look for something for myself-dont do that often enough!!)

Can't imaging not having books. Our house is filled with them and the kids still go to the library. We even lend them out to the piano students that come to my daughter's studio for lessons. So, the question is, do they come for the piano lessons or to check out the books? (This is my daughter's website,I do not have one.)

OK, I'm passionate about giving every child an equal opportunity to achieve their academic potential, and reading is basic. I love books, so I would get anything from Barnes and Noble. I will vote, and I hope Illinois gets books because we have (one of the, if not the) poorest communities in the U.S., right here in the south suburbs- Ford Heights. When I see contests that give schools benefits I always try to win for Ford Heights.
