Imagine the scene:A man and a pregnant woman grab a Ghiradelli hot chocolate and head for a horse and carriage ride in downtown Chicago.
Just as the carriage sets off the snow falls and the guy gains major brownie points as onlookers oooo and ahhh at the romantic scene.
That was us 2 years ago on 2 wages! This year on one wage we can still have romantic date nights but they're just a little more frugal. My fave every year is Christkindlmarket in Chicago and last year I added a new goodie: Free Zoo Lights in Michigan City.
In 2008 I put together this list of frugal fun for Christmas and I'd like to update it with this year's info so please help me and leave a comment of frugal fun you know of with name, date and place included. If it costs anything please note that too. I'll then compile a list of fun things to do.

Crete has their Country Christmas this weekend, December 4, 5, and 6! There are trolleys (free!) that take you to different locations around town for a lot of free activities (but make sure to bring money for the Market!). And then, of course, the Parade of Lights is at 6:30 PM on Saturday.
